UV aging behavior evolution characterization of HALS-modified asphalt based on micro-morphological features

Abstract To clarify the effect of Hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) on ultraviolet (UV) aging behavior asphalt binder, evolution history and characteristics UV induced micro-structure modified were characterized. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Atomic Force (AFM) used to analyze microscopic morphology stabilizer-modified during aging. By defining in joints by UV, identification classification typical are proposed. On this basis, an evaluation method based process was proposed quantitatively HALS binder. The results show that control can be verified SEM AFM detection methods. At same time, interval hindered divided method, it could significantly prolong service life micro-morphology binder undergoes crack generation propagation micro-morphological changes aged interfered effectively HALS, which alleviate development micro-cracks, promote fusion micro-cracks. This study provides effective for detecting HALS.
